Step 1: Open and prepare the controller

Before you start installing the paddles and smart triggers, you need to open your PS5 controller.

1. Unscrew the back of your controller. You will find the screws on the back, which you can loosen with a small Phillips screwdriver.
2. Carefully remove the battery cover.
3. Unplug the flex cables that connect the triggers to the circuit board.

If you only want to install the smart triggers (L2/R2, L1/R1), you can simply leave out the flex cables for the triggers and do not need to plug them back in. This will save you some time.

Step 2: Insert the PS5 Remapper

9. Repeat this process on the other side.

Step 4: Adapt the button area (mill out)

For the new smart trigger buttons to function perfectly, the area below the L1 R1 buttons must be slightly adjusted:

• Carefully mill out the area that lies under the button. This allows the button to click past the switch and activate without problems.
• This adjustment is necessary for the smart triggers to fully function and provide crisp feedback.

Step 5: Position paddles and drill holes

Now it's time for the paddles, which you want to mount on the back of the controller. We use a template that shows you exactly where the holes need to be.

1. Place the supplied template on the back of your controller.
2. For the paddle, the two outer holes of the template are relevant.
3. The upper holes are for the grip housing, the lower ones for the standard housing.
4. Select the appropriate holes depending on the housing and desired position.
5. For the middle hole, through which the flex cables are routed, you need a drill bit with a minimum diameter of 3.5 mm. We recommend 4.5 mm for more clearance. For the paddle screws, you need a 1.5mm drill bit.
6. Carefully position the drill and drill the hole.

This provides the perfect basis for securely and cleanly attaching the paddles.

Step 6: Feed flex cable through the hole and bend paddle

The flex cable of the paddles must be threaded through the drilled hole and then bent to fit:

1. Hold the two flex cables of the paddle together, with the cable ends facing outwards.
2. Carefully thread the flex cables through the drilled hole.
3. Slide the paddle back and forth until you can clearly see the screw holes.
4. To perfectly adapt the paddle to the shape of your housing, heat it with a hairdryer on high for a few seconds until it softens.
5. Bend the paddle so that the buttons will later lie exactly on the groove of the housing.
6. If you don't like the position, you can simply reheat the paddle and re-bend it – this is not a problem and can be repeated as many times as you like.

With this method, your paddle will sit perfectly and ergonomically on your controller.

Step 7: Connect flex cable and assemble housing

Once the paddle and smart triggers are prepared, connect the flex cables and reassemble the controller:

1. Plug the paddle flex cables into the corresponding connectors on the controller.
2. Hold the flex cables firmly with your thumb and gently press them onto the contacts to ensure a good fit.
3. Rotate the housing several times so that the flex cables form a nice spiral and are not pinched.
4. Reattach the housing from the outside and secure it with the screws.
5. Remount the trigger buttons in their place.
